There are over 1,400,000 displaced people from Burma along the Thailand-Burma border in threat of losing their cultural integrity as the political situation in Burma forces them to flee to societies other than their own. World Education Thailand works with Burmese refugees, migrants and displaced people along the border to ensure that they have access to quality education. World Education Thailand's vision is one of capacity and empowerment and the belief that education is the catalyst to change. World Education Thailand’s educational initiatives are delivered through two projects: Support to Health, Institution Building, Education and Leadership in Policy Dialogue (SHIELD) funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and Creating Opportunities for Psychosocial Enhancement (COPE) funded by UNICEF. |
